Starting: Tuesdays from November 02, 2026
Times: 4pm-5:30pm
Cost: £40 for a 6-week course
We are excited to be able to offer a new music therapy provision at Log Cabin Charity! Across a block of six weekly sessions children will be supported and guided by a fully qualified and HCPC-registered music therapist to meaningfully engage with music-making as a tool for self-expression, emotional regulation, creativity and social interaction. Sessions will run for one hour and be followed by a short time of free play. Children will also receive wellbeing packs containing supplementary aids such as auditory tools, visual and tactile anchors, creative resources and visual prompt cards.
Please note that this is a structured therapeutic intervention and consistent attendance for the 6-week duration is vital to the value of the programme. These sessions are suitable for those with mild to moderate additional needs. At the end of each block, the therapist will provide progress summaries for parents. Outcomes will focus on social, emotional and mental health targets including social communication, turn-taking and emotional regulation. The therapist will be supported by a member of Log Cabin staff.
Sessions will typically include:
· A welcome and musical check-in.
· Musical activities that support communication, emotional expression, self-regulation, and social interaction.
· Creative improvisation and collaborative music-making.
· Reflection and a structured musical ending to support transition.
Age group: Children will be grouped into cohorts of 4-8 children based on individual ability and needs rather than ages, and this will depend on demand. This means your child may be grouped into a future cohort (beginning the next term, for example), but registering your interest now is crucial if you would like your child to be included. Grouping children into small cohorts creates a safe and supportive environment and enables meaningful participation from each child. Spaces are limited and allocated subject to availability.
Suitability: This activity is best suited to children who are comfortable taking part in group activities and following simple instructions alongside others. If you are unsure whether this session is right for your child, please get in touch at [email protected] or call 020 8840 3400.
